Sector67 recently held our first Repair Cafe event. Repair Cafes are a free community event where people bring broken household items to fix them with the help of skilled volunteer experts.
We had a packed house for four hours, with community members bringing in almost 100 items to be fixed. A good mix of things came in:

Volunteer repairers, including Sector67 members and other volunteers managed to fix over 75% of the items brought in, with the success rate depending a lot on the category of the item being repaired:
Events like this help reduce waste and extend the life of household items by repairing rather than replacing them. They build community connections in a welcoming, collaborative environment where volunteers and participants work side-by-side on repairs. Volunteer repairers share repair skills and empower community members by offering hands-on support that builds confidence in fixing items themselves.
