Here&#8217;s a photo of the frame:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sector67.org\/blog\/2012\/big-3d-printer-complete-3\/frame\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1936\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sector67.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/frame.jpg\" alt=\"frame\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1936\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sector67.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/frame.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.sector67.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/frame-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This machine was originally designed to test the blood of newborn babies for pathogens, and with the help of Chris Meyer and the denizens of Sector 67, I have converted it to a big, fast printer. I also ended up writing my own G-code generator, which accounts for the distinctive grid structure of the print. This grid structure will be particularly amenable to nifty dynamic backlighting (thanks Scott and Jim for this suggestion!).<\/p>\n<p>Next step: buy more plastic.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve finally finished (more or less) building a very large 3D printer!
