This version operates in the drill press to to give better control and consistency to the injection operation, and has a much larger plastic volume.<\/p>\n<p>Scott used the CNC mill (on its maiden aluminum eating operation) to generate two mold halves of a gear reduction (or multiplier), being cut in half here:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sector67.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/DSC00003.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[187]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-188\" title=\"Gear reduction mold\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sector67.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/DSC00003.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sector67.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/DSC00003.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.sector67.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/DSC00003-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a>Thanks to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.isthmuseng.com\/\">Isthmus Engineering<\/a> for their &#8220;scrap&#8221; aluminum!\u00a0 You can see the 2 bosses surrounding the gears, which fit together perfectly.\u00a0 The gears sit in the center, and the sprue for the injection at the left side of the large gear.<\/p>\n<p>The first step is to load the heated chamber with plastic bits from laundry detergent containers (this would be called UPcycling, not REcycling, and certainly not DOWNcycling like most of your &#8220;recycled&#8221;
