Joule Thief soldering kit – uses a boost converter circuit to raise 1.5V up to 2.2V+ to light an LED light. Makes a cool flashlight! Not the greatest way to learn soldering, as all of the joints are wire to wire in the air rather than a more practical method of learning to solder to a board.
