I found this website and saw the contest to win a laser cutter, thought someone might want to try it out to win a it for Sector 67 (or for personal use).
http://hackaday.com/2011/10/07/win-a-la ... ith-light/I followed a few of the links and to me it seems like a project in process or completed would be ideal.
http://www.buildlounge.com/2011/10/07/b ... er-cutter/This is something relatively easy that lingered in the back of my head for several years without any plants to try it on or reason to build. Students who had or heard of lighting class in theater might have gotten exposure to the same "sunrise" stage lighting assignment which planted this seed.
Anyone at Sector 67 want to project this you are welcome - for Sector67 win - I could not in this timeline:
"Multiple or moving source plant grow light."
Given that current plant grow lights are single stable source and outdoor plants are in a moving light source environment - creating a multiple or moving light source which provides the duplication of a sunrise to sunset experience for the plants.
Original idea was to use multiple lights in an array which by turning them on in sequence would provide a sunrise to sunset experience. A simple timing controller would suffice.
Later grew the option of servo controlling which could move a single light source in and arc around the plant and even provide of hemispheric realism by shortening days with greater angles. This second option may be better suited to the judging process for this contest.
Imagined Benefits - increased stalk strength and better seasonal tuning.
