Hey all,
I am trying to get a case printed for my BP through the Digital Media Center on campus. The guy running the shop said that the model wouldn't work with his printer.
Quote:
The large thin areas of the model appear to be single surfaces. These are rendered a single layer in the zcorp printer. You would need to increase the thickness of these areas to the thickness you actually want for this to work.

I am not sure exactly what needs to be done and the guy doesn't have time to help me fix it right now. I have opened the files in Blender, OpenSCAD, and MeshLab. All of them looked like the surface had thickness. Does anyone have any suggestions?

The case: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2135
Digital Media Center: https://dmc.wisc.edu/3dmodeling.php
Thanks!
Nate

After looking at the model I think I get what their saying.
The model was originally constructed as if it was hollow.
There are no connecting plains in the interior portions, or at least, its not defined as such in the file. (There also seems to be a missing edge in one segment for the top piece.)

I Don't know what their 3d printer needs from you to resolve this, but you could try
http://www.sycode.com/products/mesh_to_solid/
or a program with a similar function.

Not much help but good luck
C
