I picked up a 42" Hitachi plasma screen TV this weekend. It's got big black bars running vertically on the screen. I'll post up some pictures shortly.
If anyone else has broken LCD stuff and wants help fixing it let me know, I've gotten fairly good at diagnosing and repairing them.

Got the Hitachi 42pdv41 TV fixed, it turned out to be the really common panel design that had mounted a bunch of large SMT resistors on a flat flex cable running to the drivers before the plasma panel. The resistors break connection and cause the driver to stop working, resulting in vertical lines of dead pixels. Attachment:

You can see the areas where the bars were still burned in, I ran a RGB static generator from my laptop for a few hours and it cleaned up the burn!

Nice work. Will you or sector 67 keep it? Or will you craigslist it to generate funding? It might be a cool tool to have available (instead of a projector)

Very cool man, my dad and I have fixed up a few things the best being tied between the 60" Hitachi HDTV rear projection style (Dead light assembly) and a large food smoker, (one of the heating elements burned itself off)
I am excited to have a local crowd here in madison.

It looks fine when I fullscreen my browser, but any time your screen resolution is lower than that of the picture you're going to see this occur. Is auto-resize available? It would be worthwhile to look into.
