Sector67 is presenting a metalworking by hand sessions designed for adult Sector67 members and non-members. The single session class is four hours and will be held at the Sector67 space on:
- Saturday April 8th, 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
The classes are taught by Sector67 members and experienced metal workers Quincy Millerjohn and Scott Hasse.
The class cost is $40, with scholarships available. If you are interested in a scholarship please contact email@example.com. The sessions are very hands-on and participants should wear working clothes and appropriate shoes. As a part of the class, participants will make a project that they can take home. The classes consist of:
Where safety equipment lives at Sector67 and when/how to use it
What work areas are appropriate for metal cutting, filing and drilling activity
When and how to clean up your work area.
Metal identification and properties
Project layout and drilling holes in metal.
Cutting metal using hacksaws and coping saws, including proper blade selection, evaluating and changing blades, and saw maintenance.
Filing and finishing metal, including sanding and hammering techniques for various surface finishes.
This class has been developed with two primary goals in mind:
1) Empower participants with hands-on creative skills they can apply independently
2) Provide participants with a clear pathway to gaining fluency with tools, space and procedures at Sector67
